A tragic road accident took place in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district, claiming the lives of 10 Indian Army soldiers. The incident happened on Thursday near Khanni Top on the Bhaderwah Chamba road. According to official sources, an Army vehicle lost control while moving through the hilly road and fell into a deep gorge of nearly 200 feet.
At the time of the accident, the vehicle was carrying 17 Army personnel. Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor has confirmed that 10 soldiers have died, while several others are seriously injured. As soon as the news reached authorities, rescue operations were launched. Teams rushed to the spot and began rescue work despite major difficulties.
The area is mountainous and remote, making the operation challenging. Still, the injured soldiers were rescued and taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. PTI reported that rescue teams are still present at the location.
Such accidents have occurred earlier in Kashmir as well. A few days ago, another Army vehicle fell into a gorge in the Gulmarg sector, killing two soldiers. These repeated incidents have raised concerns about the safety of Army transportation in difficult terrain. The tragedy has left the entire region in deep mourning.
