NEW DELHI – The national capital has been placed under a high-security blanket following a chilling alert from central intelligence agencies. Reports suggest that the Pakistan-based terror outfit, Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), is orchestrating a plot to carry out sabotage activities and target prominent religious sites across Delhi.

According to intelligence inputs, the terror group is specifically eyeing areas around the historic Red Fort and the congested lanes of Chandni Chowk. Sources indicate that the militants might be planning to use Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) to target a major temple in the vicinity. This heightened threat is reportedly a retaliatory move following a mosque blast in Islamabad earlier this month.

Security Tightened Across the City In response to these grave inputs, the Delhi Police has intensified patrolling and surveillance. Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs) have been deployed at sensitive locations, and multi-layered security cordons have been established around key landmarks. Special instructions have been issued to the management of all major temples and mosques to maintain strict vigil and report any suspicious activity immediately.

A History of Vigilance This alert comes just months after a car explosion near the Red Fort in late 2025, which remains under active investigation by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Officials are leaving no stone unturned to ensure public safety, conducting mock drills and tightening entry-exit points at crowded markets.
