At a public meeting in Kolkata, ISF leader Naushad Siddiqui urged the Left and Congress to begin alliance talks soon, stressing that early coordination is key for success in the 2026 Assembly polls.
ISF leader Naushad Siddiqui has called for an early electoral alliance between the Indian Secular Front, the Left parties, and the Congress ahead of the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections. Speaking at a public meeting held at Shahid Minar in Kolkata, Naushad said that discussions should start immediately to ensure the alliance works effectively at the ground level.
He warned that if talks are delayed, the impact of any alliance will not be felt at the booth level during elections. According to him, proper planning, seat sharing, and coordination among workers need time, and waiting too long could weaken the opposition’s chances.
Naushad’s proposal has triggered mixed reactions within the Left and Congress camps. While some leaders have expressed reservations about forming an alliance at this stage, others have hinted that the door for dialogue is still open. Sources indicate that despite differences of opinion, there is a willingness to keep the discussion process alive.
With the 2026 elections approaching, Naushad’s message highlights the importance of unity among opposition parties to present a strong challenge. Whether this call leads to a formal alliance will depend on how talks progress in the coming months.
