Panic Grips Tricity as 16 Schools in Chandigarh and Mohali Receive Bomb Threat Emails; Students Evacuated

People in Chandigarh and Mohali were really scared on Wednesday morning. This happened because many private schools in Chandigarh and Mohali got emails that said there were bombs in the schools. At 16 big private schools got these emails. The schools found out about the emails when the day started. So they had to ask everyone to leave the buildings away. They also stopped classes for the day. The police and other security people had to do an operation to make sure everything was safe, in Chandigarh and Mohali.
The Onset of Panic: A Morning of Chaos
On February 11 2026 at 8:00 AM something scary happened. School administrators in Mohali and Chandigarh got emails that said things. These emails were sent to the email addresses of the school administrators. The emails said that bombs had been placed on the school grounds. This was very frightening because it meant that the lives of students and teachers were in danger. The school administrators in Mohali and Chandigarh were very worried, about the students and faculty members.
The schools had to act fast. The people in charge of the schools started following emergency plans. They sent messages to parents on WhatsApp and by text telling them not to send their kids to school or to pick them up right away from certain spots. For a lot of students who were already, at school the day was over before it even started. You could see buses that had just gotten to the school gates turning around and leaving while thousands of kids were standing on the playgrounds and sidewalks with a lot of police watching them. The school managements made sure the kids were safe. School managements took care of the situation.
Targeted Institutions and Local Response
So at first people thought that 10 schools had problems.. Then Mohali Senior Superintendent of Police Harmandeep Singh Hans said that actually 16 schools, in the Mohali district had issues. Some of the schools that were targeted are:
Yadvindra Public School (YPS), Mohali
Learning Paths School, Sector 67
Manav Mangal Smart School
Shivalik Public School
Ryan International School
Paragon Senior Secondary School
Vivek High School
The Chandigarh Police and Mohali Police did a job. They worked together like a trained team. The police sent over 300 people to all the places. The operation was really big so SSP Hans said they got some help, from Fatehgarh Sahib and Rupnagar districts. These extra teams were specially trained to stop anyone from causing trouble. The Chandigarh Police and Mohali Police wanted to make sure everything was safe.
Security Sweeps and Investigation
The bomb disposal squads and the sniffer dog units started searching the big campuses room by room at midday. They are looking everywhere. The bomb disposal squads and the sniffer dog units are doing this to make sure everything is safe, on the campuses.
The safety of our students is what matters the most. We think these threats might be fake because they seem to be following the pattern as the ones that happened recently in Delhi and Gurugram. But we do not want to take any chances said a senior officer who is, at Sector 67.
The police are trying to find out who is behind these emails. They think it might be the people who sent fake emails to schools, in Amritsar, Jalandhar and Delhi a few months ago. The Cybercrime units are looking at the email addresses to see where they came from. They want to know if these emails are part of a plan to cause trouble for schools. The authorities are taking this seriously and they are investigating the Cybercrime thoroughly to see if the threats are real and if they are connected to the Cybercrime that happened earlier this year.
A Pattern of Hoaxes?
This thing that just happened is not the time something like this has occurred in North India. A couple of weeks ago on January 28 2026 a lot of schools in Chandigarh got the same kind of threat messages. It turned out that these threats were not real. This keeps happening with these kinds of threats and people are saying that North India needs to have laws for cyber-terrorism and better digital security for schools, in North India.
Parents, while relieved that their children are safe, have expressed growing frustration. “This is the second time in a month. It creates immense trauma for the children and logistical nightmares for working parents,” said a parent outside Manav Mangal School.
