Five rounds of gunshots were fired outside the Mumbai home of well-known film director and producer Rohit Shetty late on Sunday night. The incident happened in the Juhu area between 12:40 am and 1 am, according to police officials.
No injuries were reported in the firing. Rohit Shetty was present inside his residence at the time, officials confirmed. The shots were fired outside the building, creating panic in the area during the late-night hours.
Initial investigation by the Mumbai Police suggests that only one person was involved in the firing. CCTV footage collected from nearby cameras shows a man standing in the area and smoking before the incident. However, the reason behind the firing is still not clear. Police said the motive remains unknown and is being closely examined.
Soon after the incident, teams from Juhu Police Station and the Mumbai Crime Branch reached the spot. They began checking CCTV footage, speaking to locals, and collecting evidence from the area. A detailed investigation is underway, and police say all possible angles are being looked into.
A senior-level meeting of Mumbai Police officers is also being held to review the situation and plan further action. A case has been registered against unknown persons under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act.
As a safety measure, heavy police security has been deployed around Rohit Shetty’s residential building in Juhu. Police patrols in the area have also been increased.
Rohit Shetty is one of the most popular directors in the Indian film industry. He is known for hit films like Golmaal and Singham, which have been loved by audiences across the country.
This incident comes a year after a similar firing outside actor Salman Khan’s home in Bandra in 2024. In that case, two men on a bike fired shots and escaped. Later, gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang claimed responsibility. Bishnoi, who is currently in jail, has had a long-running dispute with the actor linked to the Blackbuck case.
