Visva-Bharati University Signs MoU with Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute

Visva-Bharati University has signed a special Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the prestigious Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI), marking a significant step toward strengthening film and media education in the region.
Under this agreement, students from Visva-Bharati’s Sangeet Bhavana and the Department of Journalism will receive hands-on training in modern filmmaking technologies and contemporary media practices. The collaboration aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world industry exposure.
One of the most important outcomes of this MoU is the revival of Visva-Bharati’s long-abandoned film studio, built at a cost of several crores of rupees. The studio, which had remained closed for years, will now be brought back into operation, creating new opportunities for practical learning and creative production.
Officials believe that this joint initiative between Visva-Bharati and SRFTI will significantly boost employment opportunities for students and make their transition into the professional world smoother and more accessible. The partnership is being seen as a milestone in nurturing future filmmakers, journalists, and creative professionals from Bengal.
