Mizoram CID Intercepts Major Drug Haul at Tuirial Bridge Key Details

The tranquil landscape near Aizawl recently witnessed a significant law enforcement action when Mizoram’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) operation team made a substantial drug seizure. On the morning of March 25, officers intercepted a truck at Tuirial Bridge, leading to the recovery of a large consignment of illicit substances.

The operation yielded 2.1 kilograms of heroin, a highly addictive narcotic, with an estimated international market value of Rs 15.75 crore. This interdiction represents a critical blow to regional drug trafficking networks. Following the successful interception, two individuals, identified as Lalthangpuia and Zomuansanga, were apprehended by the CID team.

Investigations reveal the seized heroin originated from neighboring Myanmar, a notorious source for illicit drugs, and was reportedly destined for markets in Assam. Mizoram’s strategic location along international borders makes it a critical transit point for such illegal trade, posing persistent challenges for law enforcement agencies.

This particular bust at Tuirial Bridge is part of a more extensive and vigorous campaign by Mizoram Police against the burgeoning drug trade. In the week surrounding this incident, authorities reported seizing drugs totaling approximately Rs 25 crore and arresting eight individuals across various operations. Such consistent efforts underscore the unwavering commitment of Mizoram’s law enforcement to combat drug trafficking, protecting communities from its devastating effects. Omni 360 News continues to monitor these vital regional developments.
